The Freedom Pin is a yellow ribbon pin to raise awareness of the hostages' situation.

The purpose of the pin is to raise awareness and to show sympathy and support for the families of the hostages during these difficult times. 

Wear the Freedom Pin wherever you go, in Israel or abroad, on your clothes or on your bag, and strengthen the families on their long journey. 

The yellow ribbon was designed inspired by the 1979 abduction of 52 Americans from the U.S. Embassy in Tehran.  
During their captivity, the wife of one of the hostages asked the public to tie a yellow ribbon on a tree as a sign of hope for their release. The request stemmed from a well-known American hit at the time called “Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree”, which represented hope and anticipation for the imminent return of loved ones.

Since then, the yellow ribbon has symbolized a call for freedom, the release of hostages, and their return home.
